Spring Cleaning
Hey Everyone,
My last blog post was about comparison, and how it'll slowly kill you if you let it. We need to compare ourselves to ourselves and Jesus ONLY! If we don't, then we will end up in a deep depression and, trust me, depression suuuucks! I have struggled with depression in the past, as anyone who has read my blog, or knows me personally, probably knows, and I'm thankful to say that I'm in a MUCH better place in my life right now! I'm not saying, I won't be depressed in the future, because I'm sure I will....hopefully, for only brief amounts of time, but if I do, I KNOW that I'll get through it, because I have before, and God will not EVER change (Hebrews 13:8)!
Today, I went through a few boxes, my bathroom, and some drawers in my bed room and threw away things I didn't need/want and organized the rest of it, in preparation for moving next week! I, surprisingly, only had two trash bags, of stuff (very heavy bags, mind you), but it still felt amazing to toss it into the dumpster! I still have my clothes to go through and maybe a box or two, but I'll do that another day. :) While throwing things away, it made me wonder why I had kept some of it, because it was literally, pointless junk, but nonetheless, I had somehow thought I'd need it in the future and kept it; this made me realize that this habit can be carried over into emotional/mental things as well.
As I said, yesterday, habits are learned not genetic and so, therefore, we can change whenever we put our mind to it and decide to work at it. This past year, I have been cleaning out my inward "closest" of useless baggage, that was so far in the past, I can't believe I had let it hang around for so long! There are still some things in there that I keep thinking I have gotten rid of, but the next thing I know, they reappear, but that is okay...God isn't finished with me yet! No matter what you have gone through, you can be free of your emotional/mental baggage if you choose to surrender it to Jesus and let Him help you walk THROUGH it and not just toss it to the side, in hopes it'll disappear if you do it enough times! It may feel like it's killing you from the inside out, as you walk through it, but in the end, God isn't going anywhere, and He WILL help you make it through!
Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 "So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting way, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us and eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen, but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal."
2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold the new has come."
Romans 8:37-39 "Know in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God, in Christ Jesus our Lord."
He is a God of love and He desires for you to see yourself how He sees you, and that means you have to love yourself! If you are a regular reader of my blog, I may be starting to sound like a broken record, but until I fully grasp it, myself, with ever fiber of my being, I will keep saying it! This blog, isn't just for anyone who happens to come across it and read it, it's for me too. Most of these posts are written because God has laid something on my heart, and mind, and I'm trying to learn from it. I want to, hopefully, encourage you all on your journey, but I, also, want to have something I can go back and read when I need a reminder and to see how far I've come!
No matter what emotional, physical, or mental state you are in today, I hope you know that God loves you and that He will never change! Change in ourselves is good and learning from others and ourselves, is GOOD, but if we loose sight of His goodness along the way, it will be all for nothing. He wants to bless you today, are you willing to let Him? Are you open to seeing all the goodness He's trying to send your way? If your eyes aren't opened you will miss all the beauty of this world and more importantly all the beauty of YOU! Please don't let what others say about you or how many friends come and go in your life, determine how you view yourself! How you see yourself should only be based on Jesus and you! I know it's hard when life isn't going how you'd like it to, or when you loose people who you thought would be in your life forever, to see the GREATNESS of this beautiful life you've been given, but trust me, it's possible!
While going through my things today, I found a prayer journal, of mine, and although I haven't been faithful in writing in it for a couple years, I plan to change that, and enjoyed reading it. Seeing how far how I've come, and reading about certain things that used to bother me, that don't anymore was such a blessing! It's so freeing to see where you used to be and see where you are now! I'm not one of those "180 degree," Christians, because I accepted Him into my heart when I was four years old and grew up in a Christian home, but I still am changed and for that I'm SO thankful! I have truly found who I am and who I can be when I'm on my knees or my face in prayer! My prayer, is that others would see Him, not me, and that when I die, my funeral will be a celebration of all God did through my life and not just crying and sadness. I want it to be party, celebrating God's great goodness and amazingness, because that's what I'll be doing up in Heaven with my Maker! This is not where I belong, and I truly hope that when I'm finally HOME, that people will rejoice despite the pain!
This post may be called, "Spring Cleaning," but it doesn't have to be springtime for you to start working on yourself, or for you to clean out your house! haha! I know that, not all you, reading this are needing to make major changes in your emotional/mental state, but no matter what you think, we all should be striving to change DAILY, to become more like Christ. If you are like me, and are mostly 100% joyful and happy and just loving life, then I congratulate you on getting to that place in your life, and I pray that you are able to stay on the mountain for a good long while!
I pray, also, that you all have a blessed and fantastic weekend!
Until Next Time!
