Empty Faith

Hi Everyone,

So who has seen the show Once Upon a Time? Well if you haven't, that's fine, you should be able to still grasp my point. I've been watching a lot of this show recently as I had three seasons to watch in a matter of weeks, since I don't watch much of anything once summer starts and I move into camp on the first of June! Currently, I'm three episodes away from the season three finale!

For those of you who don't know what it is, it's a show combining fairy tale characters into an epic twist on stories we know so well and the modern world....it's very addicting! In this show, because they are people from fairy tales, they are constantly say, "have faith," "I believe," "you just have to have hope," etc. I don't have anything against the show or going to bash it in anyway (I mean if I thought it was a bad show I wouldn't have watched a season a week haha!), nor do I expect them to be saying these things with God in mind, however, the characters of Storybrook aren't really my concern it's real people; us.

A lot of people say those phrases, and they mean nothing, if they aren't grounded in anything....having faith, belief, or hope in other people, or things does us no good in the long run, because people and this world will fail us. I'm not saying we can't have hope that people or our circumstances will change, or have belief/faith  that things will work out for good, but it's the reasons we have these things that makes all the difference. If we believe and have faith and hope because we know that our God is greater than whatever we will face and that He can change people and circumstances than that is when it'll count. It does us no good to have faith, belief and hope in things of this world because the only good in this world comes from God so if we put our trust in things that aren't of Him we'll have empty faith and that'll get us no where.

So my question is, what do you believe in? What do you put your faith in? What is the source of your hope? I truly, pray that this post finds you believing in the One true God, and that He is your true source of faith and hope! Also, that when people say similar phrases, that you don't just take for granted that they share your belief in Jesus Christ...because unless they actually say that's what they mean/live it out, you'll never know for sure. It's one thing to say you believe, yet quite another to live out that belief so that others can tell what you believe.

Until Next Time!
