Beutiful Scars
Hello,
So when you hear the word scar or scars does it bring to mind negative or positive? Do you think in terms of physical or emotional? Or both?
For me, scars are a good thing...though they can be "ugly", they are proof that I survived something...that I am human and that I'm not perfect. When I was talking to my surgeon before I had surgery he asked if I was the type to be bothered by scars because I was going to have four of them...and he was surprised, when I said I could care less about the scars no matter how big or small.
I have many scars, physically and emotionally and although some bring back painful memories if I think about how I got them that's a part of life and God has a purpose for every trial and tribulation I face so what do I have to be ashamed of.? Either we can let what tries to break us mold us and shape us into something stronger or we can let it win and defeat us. I choose to try my best of look at everything God sends my way as a lesson to be learned and although it might be tough to get through, I WILL get through it and if I come out on the other side with scars, so be it....when I'm asked about it I can hopefully help someone in their life's journey. I can't tell you how many times I've been through something, only to have a friend or meet someone shortly after, who is going through something similar who I've been able to encourage or help, because I can relate/tell them my struggle.
I'm definitely not perfect, but that's the beauty of it, right? We are ALL broken and we ALL have pasts and we ALL are broken, but that's what makes us human, and that's what makes us who we are. If we all chose to be real and not be ashamed of our brokenness and instead saw our scars and pasts as lessons for us as we continue on this journey and for others that God sends into our lives, we'd all be better off, would we not?
Steven Curtis Chapman has a song called, Beautiful Scars...which was the inspiration for this post, as well as the scars I have from my surgery and one I have on my wrist right next to my tattoo that I got from burning myself on a counter a few years ago....yes a counter...that I saw today and got me thinking on this subject...;P
I hope you all enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend!
Until Next Time!
